Pedicab band, composed of Raimund Marasigan, Diego Mapa, Mike Dizon, Jason Caballa and RA Rivera, comes up with a new album after Tugish Takish.

►Si Diego ang nakababatang kapatid ni Jao Mapa. Siya ang bokalista ng bandang Pedicab, gitarista ng mga bandang Monsterbot at Cambio at tagapalo ng bandang Dayuhan.

►Raimund Emmanuel Parcon Marasigan (born May 22, 1971) is a rock musician and record producer in the Philippines. The breadth of his projects has made him one of the most well-respected mainstays of the Philippine rock band scene. He was the drummer of The Eraserheads, and the current keyboard/synths player for Pedicab, former guitarist and now frontman of Sandwich, current drummer of Cambio, vocalist of Project 1 and the man behind Squid 9. Aside from writing songs and being a musician, he is also a record producer, voice actor, tv host and product endorser.

►DeAtH NoTe◄

The story revolves around Yagami Light, a bored highschool student that acquires a deathnote dropped by a bored Shinigami (death god) to the human world. Though there are rule in using the note, the basic premise is that any human whose name is written in the deathnote shall die. Light then uses the deathnote to "create a new world" by killing criminals.

The governments, alarmed by the sudden deaths of notable criminals turn to L, the world's no.1 detective to capture the killer that has been given the nickname "Kira" (japanenese for killer, i think).

The story then develops in a cat and mouse chase where the two main characters attempt to outwit each other.

I won't go into the details of the series since I am not a fan of spoilers. However, there are a few points of interest that about the series which is the reason why I'm writing this post.

Most notable of these is the theme that the anime is playing with. Besides death, it also questions our concept of "justice." The anime does not present a clear cut line as to who is the protagonist and antagonist. Is it the Kira, the person who places justice into his own hands by killing known criminals? Or is it L and the police, establishments funded by governments and the state to "maintain order", to "serve and protect."

Deathnote allows the audience to choose as to whom his/her sympathies lie and who is doing what may be considered as "just."

It is interesting to note that the anime potrays the definite action of the state's coercive force (police and military) once another entity (such as Kira) challenges their capacity as "law enforcers."

Despite the fact that crime has almost vanished since the powers of Kira was unleashed and criminals became "judged," the police became more obsessed with hunting down Kira.

Another thing that got me hooked was the fact that deathnote does not provide all the details of what is happening and explains a few vague points later on. This is crcial since it leaves the viewers hanging, theorizing about what was happening, making guesswork at what are the plans of the characters, and then hoping that he/she was right in what he thinks to have occured.

However, be warned. It is not for children and is way too mature for the regular anime addicts.

Music has long played an important role in anime. Writing and performing the opening (OP) and ending (ED) themes of popular anime has served as a springboard to a lucrative recording career for many J-artists. To further increase the fervor of fans for certain anime titles, the seiyuu or voice talents have sung in character albums, launching singing careers for them as well.

In recent years, music by western composers and artists has become prominently audible in anime soundtracks, ranging from classical to pop to alternative music.

If you've been mesmerized by Kimiko Itoh's haunting "Follow Me" from Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence, is actually set to Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo's second movement from Concerto de Aranjuez. Jazz versions of this tune were made popular by jazz legend Miles Davis and the James Last Orchestra.

Listen very closely to the whimsical ending theme "DuDiDuWa ~ LaLaLa" by Kotoko from The Adventures of Tweeny Witches. It is just a modern remake of the classic waltz "Beautiful Blue Danube" by Johann Strauss.

The dramatic background score of Gankutsuou/The Count of Monte Cristo comes from Pyotr Tchaikovsky's "Manfred Symphony" and Gaetano Donizetti's tragic opera "Lucia Di Lamermoor." Classical music lovers would readily recognize Robert Schumann's "Traumerei" as among the piano pieces that Eugenie Danglars performed in her first concert.

From classical to modern… Because of the success of anime in western countries, even popular composers and artists from the

U.S.

and

Europe

have contributed to the making of anime soundtracks and themes. A perfect example is award-winning composers Hans Zimmer and Mark Mancina, who wrote the brilliant score for Blood+.

Jean-Jacques Burnel, composer, vocalist and bass player of the British New Wave/Alternative Rock band The Stranglers, not only wrote the score for Gankutsuou/The Count of Monte Cristo, he also wrote and sang the OP and ED themes of this now classic anime, namely "We Were Lovers" and "You Won't See Me Coming", respectively.

British music icon David Sylvian wrote and sang the haunting ED theme "For The Love Of Life" for the anime suspense/thriller Monster. Popular Eighties New Wave band Duran Duran's debut hit "Girls On Film" was used as the OP theme for the Japanese release of Speed Grapher. Recently, the Red Hot Chili Peppers hit "Dani

" was used as the theme song for Death Note Movie 2: The Last Name.

Yet another awesome welcoming anime to kick off Summer 2008! As a long time, more-than-a-decade big fan of the manga series (since 1994), I’m proud to say that Blade of the Immortal is finally about to have its first anime series!

Kodansha Monthly Afternoon magazine of the May issue (released today) had confirmed that a television anime version of Hiroaki Samura’s Blade of the Immortal manga will premiere this summer in Japan. To those who are unfamiliar with the manga, it follows the story of Manji, a ronin swordsman who had killed 100 samurai in the past (including his sister’s husband), had finally decided to repent his dark history by condemning himself to immortality, at the cost of killing another 1000 bad guys Looking forward to it this Summer 2008! ^__^

The terror never stops even after the movie ended a long time ago! I guess there are more Kira supporters than L after all, The Kopachuck Middle School in Gig Harbor, Washington expelled one student and disciplined three others on May 14 for writing 50 names in their own “Death Note” book. In the Death Note suspense manga, live-action films, and anime, a teenager, Yagami Light, finds a notebook with which he can put people to death by writing their names and the proscribed manners of death. Authorities said that the students’ book included names of fellow students, a teacher, President George W. Bush, Paris Hilton, and other celebrities. Makes me wonder if the Death Note really do exist and fell to the wrong hands… all of us will be kinda screwed, aren’t we?
